Arabic is one of the world’s major languages. It is the official language of 23 Arab countries extending from the Arabian Peninsula to the Atlantic Ocean. This covers Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Yemen, United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Bahrain, Egypt, Libya, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, Mauritania, Sudan, Lebanon, Syria, Palestine and Jordan. It is the sixth in the world by number of speakers and one of the six official languages of the United Nations.
